The Foundation of Long-Term Health
Metabolic health is a "Risk Enhancer." Metabolic dysfunction increases the risk of virtually every other disease — heart disease, stroke, dementia, and cancers all become more likely once metabolic health is compromised.
This isn't a niche concern, and it isn't something you can judge by looking in the mirror — roughly 30% of normal-weight adults worldwide are estimated to be metabolically unhealthy despite a normal BMI (Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention, American Association for Cancer Research), and in India, a large share of people with elevated blood glucose remain undiagnosed on routine testing (BMJ Open Diabetes Research & Care). Weight and appearance are unreliable proxies for metabolic health — that's why we test for it directly.

Reason One: Visceral Fat
Not the fat below the skin (subcutaneous fat) — visceral fat is what surrounds your organs in the belly, wraps around the heart, sits in the liver and muscles, and surrounds the pancreas. It functions as an active endocrine organ, secreting inflammatory signals that systemically poison metabolic pathways.
Reason Two: Loss of Muscle Mass
Muscles are the engine of metabolism — the most metabolically active organ in your body, even at rest. Muscles improve insulin sensitivity, burn calories (1kg of muscle burns roughly 15 calories a day even at rest), and reduce inflammation, making muscle mass one of the most powerful, modifiable levers for long-term blood sugar control.
Metabolic dysfunction is also called metabolic syndrome or syndrome X.
